BLOG#3: Pretend Play and Magical Thinking
As an early childhood educator, imagination and creativity are important skills to have and develop. Whether it is an inanimate object, drawing, or a sculpture, children can create imaginary characters, or environments in their art or when they are playing. And as early childhood educators, we have to be able to help children develop this creativity and provide examples when needed.

According to Fox and Schirrmacher (2014), the element of art Mass and Volume is the way to critiquing three dimensional art that has height, length, and width (p. 129). Some of the ways and terms that are used that Mass or Volume can be portrayed as are hard and soft, large and little, big and small, or stationary and moving, and many more (Fox & Schirrmacher, 2014, p. 129). This activity of creating imaginary characters from inanimate objects, can relate to the element of art Mass and Volume as the imaginary characters are analysed and critiqued based on the characteristics of the objects in relation of mass and volume. For example, the character Fromu can be analysed as being small, hard, yet also having long arms and legs, and big eyes.
Outletlily
Hello everyone!! My name is Outletlily, and even though most of the time I look sad that does not mean that I am not happy some of the time. I love electricity, I have an endless amount of it. I also love sharing the electricity with others such as my family members and friends. You may ask, don’t your family and friends have their own electricity? They do have some electricity, but after using it they will run out and that is where I step in to help them by sharing my electricity. One thing about me that I absolutely dislikes, Water! I really dislike water. I know you may be shocked, but me and water never got along with each other, and I am okay with that as long as we stay away from each other I will always be nice.

Cushion-Cool
Hi!!! My name is Cushion-Cool, yes you have to add the cool by the end of my name, cool! Most of the time I end my sentences with the word cool! because I think it’s cool! I like many things such as the word cool, soft things, and cool hats, cool! I may look big and hard, but in reality I am a big softy and love small fluffy things, cool! I dislike hurting others, that is not cool. I live providing comfort for others when they need it, because it is a nice thing to do, cool!

Hello! My name is Fromu!! My name is the combination of the two words frog and music. My name was created from the way I look, and for my love for music. My long legs and the way my eyes look remind some people of the way a frog looks, and my body as well as part of my eyes are in reality bluetooth earphones and their case. This is where my love for music comes from, I love many types of music, such as pop, rock, and hip hop! There is not really anything that I dislike, I am a very relaxed person. Maybe when we meet someday, you could tell me about your favourite type of music!!
